Powered by Amazon Prime Video which is fast taking on Nigeria and Nigerians like a storm, Gangs of Lagos follows the story of friends who each have to navigate their own destiny, growing up on the bustling streets and neighborhood of Isale Eko, Lagos. Without underwhelming the creative prowess behind the story, film and project, we expected it to tow similar narrative structure to recent movies of the last few months that is centered in and around Lagos Island; the likes of Brotherhood and Far from Home. True to Jade Osiberu's style, we expected something satisfying and guns all blazing.
In Jade's on words: “It features elaborate set pieces, action scenes, and engaging dialogue, balanced by a high-octane pace and emotionally grounded story at its core.” We hope it is all that and more.
While Prime Video has featured a host of Nigerian movies since their Japa to Prime campaign, Gangs of Lagos is the very first Nigerian original to launch on Prime Video, and from the reports of both cast and crew, it seems it promises to be good times ahead for both Amazon and Nollywood.
Top billed cast includes: Tobi Bakre, Demi Banwo, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Iyabo Ojo, Bimbo Ademoye, Toyin Abraham and Chike.
